Case: New Motherboard Solution for Precision Farming


Project Context:

Due to the impact of climate change and population growth on us, mankind is facing unprecedented challenge and potential food crisis. In order to make better use of limited resource to raise output and improve quality of crops, the effective utilization of modern technology in agro- or food industry has become increasingly significant.

As part of intelligent agriculture, through the amelioration of crops based on reports of NIR analyzer, many farmers or operators across the world not only boosted the yield and continuously improved its quality, but reduced their labor cost and avoided the harmful effect of extensive farming.

One of EVOC customer, world’s leading NIR spectrophotometers and analyzers manufacturer, has  further developed its sophisticated equipment, which can run stably and repeatably, also with the capacity of reporting world's most comprehensive and accurate analysis result in crops.

System Challenge:

The operation of the analyzer should be as simple as possible while maintaining accurate measurement; the whole system needs to be very stable, even no adjustment or maintenance should be required for at least 10 years of operation; the performance has to be reliable and powerful, like support multiple displays, ultra-high computing, or strong compatibility with external expansion, even with automatic monitoring and adjusting of hardware performance. However, the computer system integrated in each equipment has to withstand a huge endurance test, so a modern, smart and more effective motherboard solution will be the most basic platform to meet the request.

EVOC Solution:

In order to meet these needs, EVOC has provided a series of high-performance ATX standard motherboard solution, among which EVOC EC0-1821 just tailored for such customers. As a  typical application case, EC0-1821 for this German customer, using the Intel C246 platform, including the integration of the full range of Intel® 8th/9th Generation LGA1151 socket processors, that equipped with ultra-high-precision computing capability to meet various special applications in the aspect of multi-expansion interface; meanwhile, with storage and multi-display interface, that supports of large-capacity data detection and application; also with Intel AMT 12.0 and Intel vPro platform, that can realize remote analysis and management, real-time remote monitoring and analysis of crops, so as to do automatic sampling, automatic measurement and automatic report generation to application database, etc.

Result:

Through more accurate, sensitive and stable NIR analyzer, integrated with EVOC solution, finally helped to improve the situation of low-quality and low-yield for crops, which allows organic food producers to operate more efficiently and profitably.
