Case: Smart parking lot

Project Background

With the technological advance of IoT and cloud service, it gradually provides the technical guarantee for transformation and upgrading of the parking system from a limited one-sided manual model to intelligent systemic management. Driven by the trend of market investment, operators are hoping to solve traditional problems, such as potential security risk of taking parking card, slow process at entrance and exit, difficult to find parking space or vehicle position. Meanwhile, real-time and scientific parking guidance have greatly enhanced the parking space mobility, improved the operation efficiency of the parking lot and saved its cost.

A complete cloud-based intelligent parking lot management system generally should include the following: the hardware equipment, middle-tier cloud platform and upper-layer SaaS application. A professional and experienced integrated solution provider is the core to ensure that the parking lot system is built to run as scheduled, while having a stable and reliable hardware product supplier is the core foundation.

System Overview

One of global leading brand specialized in providing the parking management solution, Thailand branch won the bid for local airport GTC project. Its parking lot has total 3 floors, with 13 entryways and 12 exit passageways. Full video parking space monitoring, recognition and display guidance system, with the entrance and exit barrier control system, self-service enquiry automatic toll system, data management and storage application system constitute an industry-leading smart parking management system.

The required delivery time of the project is very limited, and the installation method, size, number of interface, expansion bus, etc. of the integrated equipment are fixed, even the company hopes to concentrate the manpower on the development of SaaS application service. In this case, it is necessary to purchase hardware products that cover edge device with cloud platform management collaboration to fully support and cooperate in order to concentrate on the application of debugging software, so as to complete the project delivery on schedule.

Project Implementation

In this GTC project, the industrial controller required for the parking lot entrance and exit barrier control system; the full video parking space monitoring, identification and display guidance system required embedded and industrial panel computer; the same request for car-searching and self-service management system; IoT solution network security equipment and big data server required for management server and storage system, are all listed accordingly below.

M60-E:

15.6'' widescreen industrial panel PC, multi-touch, fully enclosed fanless designed, positioning, parking space and other self-service management.

17'' square screen industrial panel PC, cableless designed, monitoring, identification, for  display guidance and control system.

EIS-2206H:

12 disks high-performance rack industrial server, widely adapted to big data, hyper-converged cloud computing and other applications.

Summary

Cloud-based intelligent IoT service can save system resource and reduce management cost for parking lot operator. Meanwhile, various intelligent ways of finding empty parking space or paying, greatly improve the circulation rate of parking space, and fully meet diversified needs, satisfy the end user of good experience, even save integrator development cost to maximize profit.
