System Introduction

According to the statistics from the airline industry, the global air traffic has been growing in recent years, and is estimated to increase by 6% each year since 2008, but the profitability of airline companies is further impaired due to skyrocketing fuel costs in recent years. In such a context, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has launched the Simplify the Business (StB) program in order to reduce the operating cost of airline companies, simplify the complexity of the airport processes for passenger handling and improve service quality efficiency. For this, Common Use Self-Service (CUSS) products have become the first choice of airline companies.

The CUSS machine in airport is a brand new service mode different from the traditional manual service. The CUSS machine will automatically tell the flight number and associated information by reading the passenger's second generation ID card or by scanning the two-dimensional bar code image stored in the cell phone, and then the passenger can select the seat numbers and print the boarding pass and invoice following the prompts. This self-service procedure helps to reduce the waiting time of passengers and provide a brand new do-it-yourself service mode. Passengers are also allowed to select the seat numbers, which provide them with excellent premium self-service experience. The CUSS has met the requirements of StB program.

Operating Principles

An airport is equipped with EVOC MEC-9002 box PC as the controlling unit for CUSS devices. It communicates information with the upper layer via network port. The box PC is controlled by serial ports (the second generation ID card reader, passport reader, two-dimensional barcode scanner, membership card reader, etc.). It uses a small printer to print boarding passes. The VGA display serves as an operating interface and the DVI port allows it to play video advertisements. In this way, it delivers maximum business profits with minimum labor cost.
