System Introduction
The CNC machine tool using EIP (Embedded Industrial Platform) features wide adaptability. If the object to be machined changes, you just need to change the program. Its machining ability is higher than common automatic machine tool, so that it can precisely machine complicated profile, making it suitable for machining workpieces that are in medium and small batches, frequently remodeled, requiring high precision, and of complex shape. With the development of numerical control technology, more and more CNC machine tools are using numerical control systems. These include lathe, milling machine, boring machine, drill press, grinding machine, gear cutting machine, electrosparking machine, etc.

System Principle
CNC machine tool comprises numerical control device, servo mechanism and the main body of the machine tool. The programmed instructions to be input into the numerical control device, are recorded on an information medium and received through a program read-in device, or manually input via the keyboard of the numerical control device.
The numerical control device includes program read-in device and the input part, calculating part, control part and output part. The control functions of numerical control device involve point-to-point control, linear control and continuous path control.

System Configuration
The following is a typical application of EVOC embedded computer (or EIP) in the numerical control system:
1) Embedded Computer:
19" rackmount, NEMA 4/12 aluminum waterproof, dustproof front panel;
10.4" TFT color display; equipped with EVOC´s N270 single board computer (SBS).
2) Servo control serial communication card, six-axis position loop control card, four-axis digital servo control card (optional);
3) Embedded PLC input card (48-channel), embedded PLC output card (48-channel).
Note: The technical parameters of EVOC N270 SBC (HPC-1812CLDN) are shown as below:
A) Construction: PCI bus half-size SBC
B) Processor: Onboard AtomTM N270 1.6GHz CPU
C) Memory: Supports 1 x 200-pin SODIMM, up to 2GB DDR2
D) Display: VGA + LVDS and LVDS + LVDS
E) I/O Interface: 1x parallel port, 4 x serial port, 6 x USB port,1 x GPIO
F) Flash storage: 1 x Compact Flash socket
4) Principal Axis System: Principal Axis Unit + Principal Axis Motor, Transducer + Principal Axis Motor, Transducer + Asynchronous Motor
5) Feed System: HSV-11D AC permanent-magnet synchronous servo drive and servo motor, various kinds of analog/digital servo systems at home and abroad, HC5801/5802 series stepping motor drive unit and motor, HG.BQ3-5B three-phase sine wave hybrid drive and stepping motor.

System Evaluation
The system employs EVOC series SBC and TFT LCD true color display, featuring multi-axis, multi-channel control and built-in PLC, and can work with multiple kinds of servo drive units. It features high openness, compact architecture, high integration, high reliability, high cost-performance ratio, and easy operation and maintenance.
