System Introduction
Automotive electronics is a rapid growth industry. In China, the demand of automotive electronics will increase dramatically with rapid development of automobile industry. At the same time, the increase of private automobile quantity accelerates the demand of automobile navigation product. Therefore, now it is time to develop navigation products and integrate communication, navigation, entertainment and information display which is obtained through sensors such as speed, temperature, oil and operating status altogether into automotive electronics.
Automotive electronic products must feature environment adaptability (high temperature, humidity and vibration resistance) and mechanical properties of high strength. On the other hand, the use of automotive electronics products has a large increase with the development and promotion of automobile electronicization. In addition, automotive electronics products should be provided with features of miniaturization and light weight.
Structure of Automotive Electronics
Structure of automotive electronics is mainly composed of CPU (Central Processing Unit), display unit, GPS (Global Position System), GSM (Global System for Mobile communication), alarm system, car rearview radar, automotive entertainment system, status display and so on.
Block Diagram

GPS module is used to receive the signals from GPS satellite and obtain the present situation of vehicle terminal. The applied GPS module is composed of inverter, signal channel, micro processor and storage unit. Location coordinates are sent to main controller by GPS module through serial ports. Main controller also sends setting order to GPS module to control the status and working mode of GPS module. GPS module needs to be equipped with special GPS antenna to receive GPS satellite signals. Generally, at least three satellites of signals are needed to locate an exact position. The antenna should be placed on the roof of automobile to obtain better location performance.
GSM module makes use of GSM network for communication conveniently and is connected and communicated with main controller at a determined baud rate by means of serial ports. Main controller is also able to control GSM module to send messages with AT order, transmit data and make voice communication by using GPRS. Data communication between GSM module and SIM card is conducted through SIMCLK and SIMDATA. In order to control the time interval between sending and receiving messages, it is better to the SIM cards which are provided by the same telecom operator.A SIM card which supports GPRS is needed and GPRS service needs to be enabled when using GPRS function. GSM module also supports two microphones, two speakers, and one buzzer. One microphone and speaker can be connected to handle on the earpiece headphone to implement automotive telephone function.
Car reversing radar, namely visual car reversing aid system, is that video camera is installed at luggage hold cover or bumper, and the video it takes is transmitted and displayed on the electronic screen in front of driving seat so that drivers are able to see the rear view clearly through electronic display. It solves the problems of reverse, night vision and so on. A variety of systems and equipments that are produced on the basis of the principle of radar (laser or ultrasonic) distance measuring are widely used on the automobile. They can be used to measure the distance between wave source and barriers precisely, and the distance is displayed numerically on the meter which is in the visual range of drivers or distance alert is made when approaching barriers. Sometimes both of these two ways are applied.
Detection of automobile status includes the testing items of speed, distance, rotation speed, oil pressure, air pressure, meters of water temperature, fuel and charge and so on. The structure is composed of three parts: hardware platform, system software and application software.

System Requirements
1) High stability and adaptive to the change of temperature.
2) Good performance in anti-magnetism and anti-vibration so that dead halt is avoided.
3) Small size since terminal equipment should be installed in the automobile where it is not easy to be observed.
4) Convenient operation: buttons and touch screen are provided on the display for driver´s convenience.
5) High processing speed: high data processing speed is required in the process of data up-and down-transmission.
6) High scalability: terminal equipment can be upgraded without being replaced completely in the future.
Motherboard Selection
EVOC motherboard EC4-1641CLDNA and 6.4" TFT LCD are selected with the advantage of onboard low-power CPU, memory and CF card.
Motherboard integration improves the performance of anti-vibration, anti-magnetism and stability while small size, high capability and the provided PC/104 slot also meet the requirements of automotive system.
